NATIONAL FORD GT RALLY III
Here are the links some videos that my son, Steve, Jr., made when we were in Las Vegas in September of this year to participate in the National Ford GT Rally III. My favorite is the first.

Rally III was a truly awesome experience.
IN THE BEGINNING
The Ford Motor Company announced the production of the new Ford GT in 2005 and 2006 (the only years it was manufactured) to commemorate the infamous GT40 series of racing cars developed and produced by Ford during the 1960's to challenge the dominance of European cars (particularly those made by Ferrari and Porsche) in the major circuit endurance races such as LeMans and Sebring. When I first saw the Ford GT in 2005, I knew in an instant that I would have to find a way to fulfill one of my childhood fantasies of owning and driving a true American classic. The car had exceptional high-performance characteristics, classic styling and racing lines, and an iconic history in racing lore. For those who may not be familiar with that history, the Ford GT40 was the first American car to win at LeMans in 1966, taking not only first place, but second and third as well. The Ford GT40 went on to repeat its win at LeMans in 1967, 1968 and again in 1969 - a truly incedible feat of world-class compeditive racing.
At the time I first saw the Ford GT in 2005, however, I was just finishing a 2-year project of customizing a 1992 LT1-SS Corvette Convertible, and was really unable to justify the further expenditure of additional funds to purchase a new Ford GT. I would have to wait for a better opportunity before even thinking of asking my wife if she had any objection to spending more than six figures on a new car! Nevertheless, I was totally "hooked" on the Ford GT and settled (as an interim measure of self-restraint) for posting two very large poster pictures of the 2005 Ford GT in my office for everyone (including my wife, of course) to see. Here are those two pictures of the 2005 Ford GT.
I will try and complete this otherwise never-ending story in future posts.
